What we buy
The machines and parts we can pay properly for
We resell through our own shop and workshop, so we pay for what we can actually use. If it is not on this list, ask anyway — the answer is often still yes.
Custom & gaming PCs
Anything built around a graphics card from the last five or six years — RTX 20-series, RX 5000 and newer. Ours, PC Specialist’s, self-built, it does not matter who built it.
Graphics cards
RTX 3060 and up, RX 6600 and up, on their own. The card is most of the value in any gaming PC, and it is the part we resell fastest.
Gaming laptops
RTX-class laptops from the last four years. Battery health and screen condition matter more here, so photos help.
High-end parts
Recent Ryzen and Core processors, DDR5 kits, NVMe drives of 1 TB and up, quality power supplies and AIO coolers — usually as part of a machine, sometimes on their own.
Business fleets
Ten desktops from an office refresh, a lab full of workstations: we quote the lot, collect on a pallet and give you a data-destruction certificate for each drive.
What we pass on
Office PCs older than about 2018, machines with liquid damage, and anything without a graphics card or a recent processor. We will still recycle them for free if you drop them in.
How it works
Three steps, and you keep the choice at every one
1. Tell us what is in it
The form below takes two minutes: graphics card, processor, memory, storage, age and condition. Photos of the inside and the outside help us price it accurately, and a spec screenshot is fine too.
2. Written offer within one working day
Two numbers: cash, and the trade-in value towards a PC Foundry build, which is always higher. Offers hold for seven days. No obligation, no chasing.
3. Drop in or we collect
Bring it to Castle Street or we book a free DPD collection. We check it on the bench against the spec you gave us, wipe every drive, and pay by bank transfer the same day. If it does not match, we tell you before we do anything.
What decides the price
Mostly the graphics card. Then honesty.
We price against what the parts sell for today, not what they cost new. Prices move week to week, which is why we give a dated offer rather than a table that is wrong by Friday.
- Graphics card is usually 40 to 60% of the value.
- Processor and memory next, then storage size.
- Condition: cable management, dust, coil whine, damage to the glass or panels. A cleanly built machine is worth more to us because it is worth more to the next owner.
- Boxes and receipts add a little; a remaining warranty adds more.
Trade in towards a new build
Put the offer against a ready-to-go PC or a configurator build and we add a trade-in bonus on top of the cash price. You keep the old machine until the new one is ready, so you are never without a PC.
We can also move your drives, your Windows licence and your data across as part of the build.
